Scars

What causes scars?

A scar is caused by new skin that grows over a cut, scrape, burn or sore or from surgery, infections like chickenpox or skin conditions like acne. Scars are often thicker, as well as pinker, redder or shinier, than the rest of your skin. How a scar looks depends on:

  • How big and deep the wound is.
  • Where it is.
  • How long it takes to heal.
  • Your age.
  • Your inherited tendency to scar.
  • Your gender.

There are four types of scars:

  1. Keloid scars stick out from the skin and reach beyond the original injury site. Over time, a keloid scar may affect mobility.
  2. Contracture scars come from burns and cause tightening of the skin that can impair your ability to move. They can go deeper to affect muscles and nerves.
  3. Hypertrophic scars are raised red scars that look like keloids, but do not extend beyond the boundaries of the injury site.
  4. Acne scars range from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance.

If you’re worried by scars, relax, help is at hand. Make an appointment at your nearest salon providing Totalcare treatments and, using the very latest skincare technology, your skin therapist will show you exactly what can be done to clear them up.

The experts recommend:

VitaPeel
Vitapeel ION is the perfect answer to scars formed from accidents or stretch marks. The treatment depends on the depth of the scar and how long you’ve had it and if there’s a good blood supply to the damaged area. Vitapeel Ion erase the raised area in keloid and hypertrophic scars and sometimes remove them completely. The area is vacuumed intensively and the micro crystals gently remove the scar tissue.  For severe acne pitting you will need at least 6-8 treatments.Salons providing Vitapeel ION treatments >>
VitalO2

The Vital O2 treatment is a natural therapy that pushes Gala endocosmetic serum into the deepest layers of skin to encourage the growth of new cells. This, in conjunction with Vitapeel Ion, gives the best and the fastest results. Salons providing Vital O2 treatments >>
